Red Krewe News, 8 / 26 / 1998

     Konnichi Wa Minna!

The quickest news update in the history of this page, no?

     (THE COMIC CON IS OVER!!)
(and I wasn't too happy with it!)

     RED KREWE NEWS

Look forward to seeing more of Red Krewe on-line and in print VERY SOON.
Other than that head over to the Gravitywell Productions tm main site to check out the new Charlemagne Blaise pinup, and then stop by "TT's Den" my personal site to see some RK and Anime sketchwork & Fan art.

     GRAVITYWELL NEWS

For those of you that went to the San Diego Comic Con Convention International this year, you got a special treat care of GWP.. that is if you stopped by the freebee tables upstairs. This year we had 5 fee pieces of color and black and white out for grabs, including a small, yet very tasty poster. This people is just the beginning!!

Brandon's Ramblings

The San Diego Comic Convention. Like the past few years, I did look forward to this year's convention, and I will look forward to the next one, but not for comic books unfortunatly. The only value this year's convention had for me was the anime related part of it. To be honest the industry related, meaning comic books only aspect of it was not nearly as good or as interesting as the previous few conventions, which is saying a lot since I was not impressed by what the convention was offering me back in 1995.
This year we saw less comic book companies there, a smaller crowd that stayed there even less than previous years. Hardly any freebies and give away items outside of the freebie table. And the biggest and best of those items... (with the one exception of Gravitywell Production's tm stuff) were not even comic book related. Pioneer had two free Tenchi Muyo! comic books out, but that's from the anime industry so that doesn't count. Normally there's a few things that catch my eye every year at the con, usually bad material with a little good stuff. This year absolutely NOTHING caught my eye. There were less attractions, and more non-industry related stuff than ever before.
Yes, I will be looking forward to next year's convention, but not for comics, but for the anime vendors and free showings. Sadly so (in a way at least) I will be attending the L.A. Anime Expo next year, so I'm sure the San Diego Comic Con is going to lose a lot of its spark for me if it doesn't improve.
Now that I've spoke my piece on the sad state of the industry, let me continue on to how much fun I did have. Well, I came to the con with a budget of $600, since that's what I spent last year. After all was said and done, I ended up spending $800 but I proudly only had $70 of that on a credit card. I bought some gifts, $150 worth of SM Anime CDs... some laserdiscs, videos, a mandarin outfit and a fantasy style cutlass sword!!! =^_^= Oh yeah, the belt too! Other than that, its back to bills as normal as I prepare myself for the next convention... perhaps Fanime in San Jose this year? Maybe not!

Until next time,
Tlalocelotl Tlatoani aka Brandon K. Montoya
