U.S.N.A. |
From the early days of colonization, and even till the this day the Mississipi
river has been a source of pleasure and commercial traffic. its one of
the longest rivers in North American, and the nation's most noted waterway.
The principal stops on the mississip river are Minneapolis, Saint Paul,
La Crosse, Dubuque, Davenport, Keokuk, Quincy, Hannibal, Saint Louis, Memphis,
Vicksburg, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans.
In the past century the Mississipi river was a hotbed for the Underground
railroad, being at least one stop on a slave's path to freedom. Because
of that, today its heavily policed for runaway slaves. As its not the only
path north, the Subway avoids the Mississipi and uses the Allegheny Mountains
or other backwoods trails instead. |
