A Texan flag illustrated by Lord Argent.
Lone Star Republic Of Texas
Location : Between U.S.N.A. and the U.S.M.
Texas was colonized by Spain in sixteen hundred and ninety, which is very late considering Spain had visited Texas before. Up until this year they had no serious interest in settling it until France made its intentions known to settle the areas near it. Because their efforts were only for show, Spain made only mediocre efforts to settle, and eventually allowed immigrants from the American colonies to come in, as they helped boost the population and economy quickly. Things were going fine, until eighteen hundred and thirty-five, when President Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna abolished Mexico's democracy and took the position of Dictator. The following year the settlers overthrew the Spanish rule and claimed the colony as their own.
For the first few years of its existence, Texas had considered joining the union, however seeing the differences between the North and the South were deepening, they opted to avoid the opportunity altogether. Ironically, Mexico saw good relations with Texas as part of maintaining good relations with the United States of America, whom they frequently traded with.
During the brief U.S.N.A. civil war of eighteen hundred and fifty, Texas did gain quite a profit by assisting the south. After the re-union of eighteen hundred and sixty, Texas continued to be an independent nation. It wasn't until nineteen hundred and nine that Texas saw major economic growth. The discovery of oil in Beaumont made Texas one of the richest countries at the beginning of the new century. Since then their economy shows no signs of weakening.
In addition to being a major player in the petroleum industry, Texas is also a large player in the agriculture industry. A good portion of its population are slaves. Above all, Texas masters are known for their excessive cruelty to their stock.
It should also be noted that the human slaves were force to leave the country at the turn of the century, they were either chased across the border or sent via ship back to Africa. Only a small portion of Texas is non-white. These would be the native Americans, and a handful of Tejanos *1 who are hardly tolerated.
